London weather: Mini 'heatwave' to hit the capital after washout bank holiday weekend

London is finally heating up with temperatures set to hit the mid 20s this week.

After a rather rainy bank holiday weekend, it's finally set to feel like summer in London as a mini heatwave hits the capital.

City locals can expect hot weather over the next few days, with temperatures forecast to peak at a sizzling 25C in the city.

The Met Office’s seven-day weather forecast for London shows temperatures will reach the mid-20s later this week and into the weekend.

Friday and Saturday are expected to be the hottest, with a high of 25C. Although the warm weather is expected to cool by Sunday.

Despite the upcoming rise in temperatures in London, the period will be a mini heatwave rather than an official hot spell.

The Met Office defines a heatwave as an “extended period of hot weather relative to the expected conditions of the area at that time of year”.
