A public appeal was widely shared on social media after Mrs Ford vanished near Richmond Road in Hackney at around 11am on Saturday (September 23). Author Sophie Heawood was among those calling for the public’s help.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police (BTP) said officers were called to the line close to Dalston Kingsland at 11.49am on Saturday following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics attended but a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
