Major disruption is expected to last all morning on trains between London Paddington, Heathrow Airport and Reading.

National Rail says this is due to damage to the overhead electric wires at Ladbroke Grove. Heathrow Express, Elizabeth Line and Great Western Railway (GWR) trains have all been affected.

While some lines have reopened services are expected to be disrupted till 12pm on Sunday January 7.

Great Western Railway said at around 9am that no trains were operating between Paddington and Reading, although alternative routes were in place for some passengers.

There is also no Elizabeth line service between London Paddington and Ealing Broadway, while stations between Ealing Broadway and Heathrow and Reading are receiving a reduced service.

National Rail said as a result of the cable damage trains may be cancelled, revised or delayed by up to an hour.

Customers can use their tickets on London Underground and London bus services via any reasonable route at no extra cost.

Tube strikes

Further travel disruption is expected in London this week after RMT union members working on the London Underground started their strike action on Friday January 5.

Transport for London (TfL) has advised people to complete their journeys by 5.30pm today (Sunday January 7) with little or no service anticipated on the Underground until January 12.

Aside from the Underground, no other TfL services will be on strike, but bus, DLR, London Overground, and Elizabeth line services are expected to be busier than usual, and one-way or queuing systems may be in place. TfL said they will also be affected by station closures, where stations also serve London Underground lines.

It advised Londoners who need to travel during the strikes to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys.
