Londoners travelling into the capital this weekend could be faced with disruption due to closures on TfL services.

Transport for London (TfL) has asked Londoners to check before they travel this weekend as strike action is set to affect London Underground services from January 7 to 12.

On Sunday January 7 passengers are advised to complete their journeys by 5.30pm as Tube services will end earlier than normal.

There are no strikes planned on other TfL services. Some DLR, London Overground and Elizabeth line services may be affected by station closures where stations also serve London Underground lines.

London Underground

Euston escalator works

Monday January 8 until mid-April 2024

Planned escalator work at Euston starts on Monday January 8. At busy times, this will lead to queues to enter the station.

District line

Saturday 6 and Sunday January 7

No service between Parsons Green and Wimbledon

Customers travelling between central London and East Putney, Putney Bridge or Wimbledon should use South Western Railway services to/from Waterloo. Rail replacement buses will run to/from Fulham Broadway. 

Due to a football match at Chelsea on Saturday evening, buses will not serve Fulham Broadway from approximately 4.30pm until 8.45pm. Fulham Broadway station will also be closed from 7pm until approximately 90 minutes after the match ends, and there will be no entry to Parsons Green or West Brompton for the District line.

London Overground

Saturday 6 and Sunday January 7

No service between Richmond and Gospel Oak

Use District Line services between Richmond, Kew Gardens and Gunnersbury. Rail replacement buses will run every 15 minutes. This is due to Network Rail works. 

No service between Willesden Junction and Shepherd's Bush

Use local bus routes 220 or 228. This is due to Network Rail works.

No service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction

Rail replacement buses will run every 30 minutes. This is due to Network Rail works.

Sunday January 7

No service between Liverpool Street and Cheshunt/Chingford/Enfield Town until 10.15am

Use Tube services or local bus routes. A rail replacement service will run between Seven Sisters and Enfield Town, Seven Sisters and Cheshunt and between Hackney Downs and Chingford. This is due to Network Rail works.

Elizabeth line

Sunday January 7

Reduced service between Paddington and Maidenhead, and also at Heathrow T4

Trains will call at Heathrow T4, West Drayton, Langley, Slough, Burnham, Maidenhead, Hanwell and Acton Main Line every 30 minutes. This is due to HS2 works at Old Oak Common station.

DLR

Saturday 6 and Sunday January 7

No service between Stratford International and Woolwich Arsenal

Use the Jubilee line, Southeastern Railway services or local bus routes. Replacement buses will run between Canning Town and North Woolwich (for Woolwich Arsenal), and direct between Canning Town and London City Airport.

Saturday January 6

A10, Gracechurch Street

From 7am until 6pm, Gracechurch Street will be closed in both directions between its junctions with Lombard Street/Fenchurch Street and Cornhill/Leadenhill Street for a crane operation.

The O2, North Greenwich

From 6pm until 11pm, the O2 will be hosting Peter Kay Live. Large crowds and increased traffic are expected at the beginning and end of the event.

Sunday January 7

Millbank

From 7am until 6pm, Millbank will be closed in both directions for a crane operation.

Tuesday January 9 until Wednesday April 10

A406 GLA Road (Staples Corner Roundabout) closure

From Tuesday January 9 until Wednesday April 10, every night from 9pm until 5am the following morning, Staples Corner Roundabout will be closed between the southbound on-slip connecting Staples Corner Roundabout with A5 Edgware Road, and the southbound off-slip connecting A5 Edgware Road with Staples Corner Roundabout. During these times, sign-posted diversions will be in place.
