Wet and windy scenes have taken over the capital today (January 24th) as Storm Éowyn strikes.

While the storm’s most severe impacts have been felt in Northern Ireland and Scotland, London is also bracing for unsettled weather in the coming days.

Commuters were seen battling the elements this morning as they made their way over London’s famous bridges.

Umbrellas were turned inside out, and raincoats were definitely put to good use.

Winds are expected to exceed 50mph in London today, which is getting off ‘lightly’ compared to elsewhere in the UK.

In Ireland, gusts reached a staggering 114 mph, leaving hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses without power.

Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland have faced the brunt of the storm, with rare red weather warnings issued by the UK Met Office, highlighting a "danger to life."

A yellow wind warning is in force today and a separate rain warning will come into force on Sunday morning for London.

Londoners should expect more wet and windy conditions in the coming days, with forecasters warning of potential flooding and transport disruption.
