London’s ‘poshest cab’ on sale for over £100k - twice the price of standard black cab

London’s poshest cab, inspired by classic luxury cars, has gone on the market for more than £100,000, twice the price of a standard black cab.

For the price of the cab you could buy anything from a brand-new top-of-the-range Mercedes to a used Lamborghini - and even a Classic Ferrari.

The cab, called the TX5 Kahn Farelady edition comes complete with quilted seats, 19" alloy wheels, and a roof spoiler and the cost depends on how many accessories you have.

Curated by automotive designer and entrepreneur, Azfal Kahn, they can be ordered in left or right-hand drive and finished in a range of colours including traditional London cab black and British racing green.

The cab’s luxury design has taken cues from the likes of Bugatti, Maybach and Rolls Royce, while the word ‘taxi’ in the cab’s roof light has been replaced by word’s VIP - perhaps fitting for any future passengers.

The standard new model will cost £99,000 plus VAT with one of their editions already listed on Auto Trader for £118,800 - more than double the standard electric black cab price of around £55,000.

The interior’s quilted leather seats have been inspired by those found in a Bugati Chiron, while the starlit headliner resembles one seen in the top-of-the-range Rolls.

On the outside, the cab features 19" alloy wheels, a ‘Maybach inspired’ front grille, and a roof spoiler.

Although Mr Kahn’s TX5 could be picked up by a cabbie to be used on the streets of London, it’s unlikely you’ll be hailing one of these special edition cabs anytime soon.

The taxi is more likely to be chauffeur driven with a private owner. If you do see it and hail it and it stops, you can’t be charged more than the standard black cab rate.

Commissioned in 2017 by the London Taxi Company to produce the Last of Line edition from the 5 final units of the TX4 taxi to leave the production line, this new model isn’t Kahn’s first cab revamp.

The majority of the anniversary TX4’s were quickly snatched up by wealthy collectors - with the new model aimed at the same type of clientele.
