Greenwich sexual assaults: Police issue image of man after girls as young as 13 groped

A man who “sexually touched” four teenage girls in a string of attacks in south London is wanted by the police.

Four girls aged between 13 and 17 were approached or followed before being “grabbed” or “touched” by a man who fled the scenes of the assaults.

The attacks took place in December 2021 and January 2022, in the borough of Greenwich.

Police believe the incidents are linked and are urging anyone with any information to come forward.

Detectives investigating the attacks have released an image of a man they want to speak to.

A 13-year-old was assaulted on Thursday, December 16, when she got off a 229 bus on Crossway.

She was followed on the bus at the stop near the junction of Hoverton Road, in Thamesmead, by a man who sexually touched her before running away when the victim screamed.

The next assault took place on Wednesday, January 12, when a 16-year-old girl was walking down Poplar Place, Thamesmead, when she was approached by a man asking for directions.

He pushed her against a fence and sexually touched her before she screamed and was able to run away.

Then on Thursday, January 13, a 17-year-old girl was followed off the 422 bus by a man at Artillery Place, Woolwich.

He followed her into a nearby property and grabbed the back of her leg, causing her to fall.

He sexually touched her when she was on the floor and ran from the scene when she shouted for help.

And on Tuesday, January 18, a 16-year-old girl was walking down Kentlea Road, Woolwich, when she was approached by a man who asked for directions.

As she attempted to walk away, he sexually touched her before she was able to escape.

Det Sgt James Robinson, from the Met, said: “We know these incidents will cause concern within the community and we are doing all we can to identify the person responsible.

“We are also asking for your help – if you recognise the man in this image or have any information that could assist us, no matter how small, then contact us as soon as possible.”
