Brixton shooting: Two men dead after gunfire in south London

Two men were found with injuries and were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men have died after gunshots were heard in Brixton, south London, last night.

Police and paramedics were called just before 8pm yesterday (Sunday, October 30) to reports of gunshots heard on Railton Road, in Lambeth.

Met Police officers, including firearms officers, rushed to the scene, alongside the London Ambulance Service (LAS) and the air ambulance.

Two men were found with injuries and were both pronounced dead at the scene.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “The nature of their injuries has not been confirmed at this time.

“Their next of kin are yet to be informed and we await formal identification.”

They added: “Post-mortem examinations will be held in due course.”

Dulwich and West Norwood MP Helen Hayes tweeted that she was “horrified” by the incident.

She said: “My thoughts are with their loved ones about to hear the worst possible news & all who witnessed this violence in our community

Several roads in the area are closed, and crime scene cordons are in place at the location.

Residents have been warned they will see an enhanced police presence in the area and are asked to speak to officers if they have any information.

At this stage, there have been no arrests and enquiries continue, the Met said.
