Boy, 15, charged with three counts of ‘traumatic’ sexual assault in Newbury Park

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with sexual assault following an alleged string of “highly traumatic” attacks.

Five incidents of a male approaching female victims in the area around Aldborough Road North, Newbury Park, between December 2021 and February 2022, were reported to the Met Police.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Sunday, March 13, and charged the following day with three counts of sexual assault.

He appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 14, and has been released on bail while proceedings continue.

The police described the incidents as “highly traumatic” for the alleged victims, who are being supported by specialist officers.

Det Insp Sion Hughes, from the Met Police, said: "We know women are disproportionately affected by crime of this nature and are absolutely committed to doing everything we can to make women feel safe and be safe.

"If you believe you have been a victim of sexual assault, please come forward.

“We will support you and take action to place the person responsible before the courts.”
