Carnaby Street Christmas lights: Video as Choose Love's Vick Hope illuminates famous Soho street

The Carnaby Street Christmas season began on Wednesday with a lights switch-on by Choose Love ambassador Vick Hope.

As the festive tunes of Mariah Carey and Michael Buble begin to be heard around London, Carnaby Street's spectacular Christmas lights have been switched on.

Presenter and Choose Love ambassador Vick Hope did the honours on Wednesday (November 8).

A display of neon lights graces the entrances from Beak Street and Great Marlborough Street, decked out with glistening discs and vibrant lighting.

A party of shopping and dining featured 100 brands, restaurants and bars offering discounts and promotions, alongside live music and entertainment.

LondonWorld spoke to shoppers about the build-up to Christmas.

Shree, 22, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be here, loving the vibes and looking forward to shopping…I will be doing most of my Christmas shopping here, given there’s 20% discount off most shops.

"I’ve not decided which shops I’ll go to yet, but my sister loves Benefit, so I think I’ll spend most of my time over there.”

India, 26, who was with her partner, Aaron, 29, said: “We haven’t done any shopping so far, we’ve got our eye on Size to get some shoes…

"We’ll be looking for gifts for ourselves and others and it’s a really good opportunity to get ahead of the Christmas shopping now."

Adelene, 33, said: “I haven’t started shopping yet, but I’m on the hunt for a coat - maybe Ralph Lauren?

"Honestly I don’t really need to shop, but just looking for this one thing for myself.

"I probably won’t be doing any Christmas shopping for anyone else, as it’s already covered.”
