A new study has revealed the south London borough of Southwark as the most caring borough in the capital.

Although living in London can be chaotic, stressful, and expensive it’s also good to know that despite living in one of the world’s busiest cities Londoners still care about each other.

And coming in at top spot for being London’s most caring borough is Southwark.

Stretching south from the Thames the inner-city borough of Southwark compromises of diverse neighbourhoods like Bermondsey, Rotherhithe, Peckham, Camberwell and Dulwich Village.

The data was correlated by flower delivery service Bloom & Wild, in partnership with the Carers Trust, which assessed which London borough gives back the most to its community.

The boroughs were ranked on a number of support features including school and work support, social support, mental health support and caring for the planet.

Southwark, which has roughly 322,000 inhabitants, came top with a score of 344 from a maximum score of 396.

Lambeth came second and Ealing came third in the overall rankings.

Southwark was identified as the best borough to live in for mental health support features including 25 outdoor gyms that provide free sports spaces that can help with a mental health healing journey.

In at number two was Lambeth, which came joint first for the best borough with mental health support but had fewer cultural spaces than Southwark.

Ealing came third and was lauded for being the borough doing the most to protect the environment.

The data revealed Enfield as the best borough to live in for school and work opportunities with 17 libraries open to the public, five career support centres and over 1,119 job openings.

Other honourable mentions included Hackney which is the best borough for preventing social isolation with over 132 community centres and Bexley which recycles 48 percent of its collected waste compared to a London-wide average of 30 percent.

Assessors looked at a variety of factors including the number of spaces promoting education and work opportunities, such as libraries, museums and job centres.

They recorded the number of community centres, artist workspaces, art centres, and outdoor spaces for cultural use.

"The best borough to live in overall is Southwark, this caring, inner city borough received the highest score out of all the boroughs we looked into. Not only did it come out top overall, but it also ranked as the best borough to live in for mental health support features."
