The crisp croissant pastry and doughy cookie was a match made in heaven.

Thanks to the crookie, Londoners can now enjoy a classic doughy chocolate chip cookie and a crispy croissant in one.

Combining the sweet and savoury flavours of the two, the crookie offers an alternative for those who are not a fan of overly sweet things.

Having already been a hit in Paris, there are a few bakeries in the capital that have hopped on the cookie-croissant hype and have added their own crookie creations to their menus.

While some versions seem to be more croissant-like, other London editions have learnt into the fusion’s cookie side.

I tried one of the more cookie versions of the popular combo which had a dough base with crispy croissant mixed in from Créme which was a short stroll from Tottenham Court Road station.

Walking up to the bakery, there was a line of cookie fans outside of the shop so it didn’t surprise me that once inside the crookie space in the shop’s display cabinet was empty.

However, staff assured me that a batch of the cookie-croissant offerings were in the oven and would be around a 20-minute wait.

As soon as the staff brought the new tray of crookie’s out I quickly lined up to secure one for myself. Although as you can imagine the batch didn’t last long as others came in and ordered the popular treat for themselves.

Fresh from the oven, the warmth of the crookie’s made them all the more delicious. I don’t think I can enjoy a plain cookie the same again.

While you may assume the combo together would make a softer cookie, the croissant mixed in was surprisingly crisp which was truly amazing paired with the doughy cookie.

I can certainly say I get the crookie hype, and will definitely be back to Créme for one when I’m next in Soho.
