Christmas well and truly landed in London's Southbank on Tuesday evening (November 28) as the Wonka world premiere took over the Royal Festival Hall. Thanks to festive decorations and snow machines, the stars of the film walked amidst a winter wonderland in celebration of the movie's first screening in the capital.

Despite the holiday vibes, it was clear many fans were there just to see the Wonka star Timothée Chalamet. While fans on social media got a chance to see the red carpet action up close during a live stream of the event, covered fencing gated off the premiere from the rest of the public in the area.

This, of course, didn't stop fans from trying to get a glimpse of the man of the moment. Lining the fences of the event fans were seen standing on nearby raised areas, peeking through gaps and lifting their phones over to get a glimpse of the red carpet antics.

They were soon rewarded for waiting out in the cold as Chalamet took to the Wonka carpet in his dashing pink velour suit. The news of which sparked a roar of excited cheers from fans across Southbank.

Passersby in the riverside area were soon made aware of the Hollywood star's presence as fan screams acted as pinpoints to where he was along the event's carpet.

Chalamet was his charming self as he was all smiles while greeting fans on the carpet and waving to those beyond the fences.

I'm sure fans who were there would agree it was certainly worth the wait to see the star, even if it was only through a phone screen held over a fence.
