Storm Darragh London: When will Hyde Park Winter Wonderland reopen after Storm Darragh?

Officials for London’s Winter Wonderland are hopeful it will reopen on Sunday - however, the Met Office forecast shows heavy rain all day.

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is closed today (Saturday) due to severe weather brought by Storm Darragh.

Wind speeds of up to 50mph are expected to batter the capital throughout Saturday (December 7), making it unsafe to visit many of London’s parks.

The Met Office has warned there could be ‘danger to life’ caused by flying debris and has urged Londoners to expect disruption on the roads and rails.

The outlook for tomorrow (Sunday, December 8) is far better and Winter Wonderland officials say they hope the park will reopen.

The yellow weather warning ends at 6am on Sunday, although the forecast shows rain is expected for the majority of the day in Greater London.

A spokesperson said: “Winter Wonderland will be closed tomorrow in line with The Royal Parks’ closure of Hyde Park due to the high winds. Affected ticket holders have been contacted directly and will have the opportunity to reschedule or refund their tickets.

“With better weather forecast for Sunday, we anticipate operating as normal and look forward to welcoming guests back to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.”

A follow-up statement posted at around 8:30pm last night (Friday) said: “Please note there may be a slight delay in receiving your email but you have been contacted regarding tomorrow’s cancellation. Please check your junk/spam folder.

“If you have any further questions please contact SEE Tickets who will be able to advise on this further.”

Another popular festive event, Christmas at Kew Gardens has also been cancelled due to the severe weather. Find out more by clicking here.
