Review: Olivia Rodrigo turned London’s O2 Arena purple for her Guts World Tour

It’s a Tuesday night at London’s O2 Arena, the start of Olivia Rodrigo’s four shows at the North Greenwich venue and the colour purple has well and truly taken over.

As well as fans sporting Rodrigo's signature lilac hue through their sequined skirts and cowboy hats the music venue also embraced the singer’s residence this week as it rolled out a purple carpet across its entrance.

The Drivers Licence hitmaker is currently on her massive Guts World Tour which as well as four shows at the O2 Arena this week will see her perform over 80 shows globally.

For me Sour is one of my all time no skip albums and Guts has stayed on my music rotation since its release last year so I was very excited to finally see Olivia Rodrigo in concert.

Ahead of her arrival on stage, burning candles shaped to spell the name of the tour, Guts, took over the venue’s huge screen counting down until the start of the show.

After the last candle burnt out the arena lights dimmed which of course was met with huge screams from the singer's young Livies fanbase.

Rodrigo soon hit the stage dressed in a sparkling two piece and began greeting fans across the stage while singing Bad Idea, Right?.

Following straight into another of her rockier tracks Ballad Of A Homeschooled Girl the set soon transitions to feature some of Rodrigo’s more emotive ballads including Vampire, Traitor and Drivers Licence where London audiences serenaded the singer with the final verse.

Then comes the first of a few outfit changes as the chart topper returns in a black co-ord which is has glittery outling. While Rodrigo has a slight wardrobe malfunction with the look during Love Is Embarrassing she handled it well and kept performing like nothing happened.

Although most fans are hundreds of metres from the stage, fans around the venue got a chance to see her perform up close as she performed both Logical and Enough For You while sitting on a crescent moon which did a lap of the venue.

Across the evening Rodrigo shared her love for the capital with the singer proving it at one point as she admitted she is a beans on toast fan and Jaffa Cakes and Percy Pigs are some of the things she craves while back in the states.

Bringing back the rock tunes for the final half of the show, she performed Brutal, Obsessed, Good 4 U and Get Him Back before confetti cannons ended the show with a star filled explosion.

While Olivia Rodrigo has three more shows at London’s O2 Arena this week, we can’t wait for her next tour here and hope the venue gets more purple for it (maybe a lilac roof).

Are there any tickets for Olivia Rodrigo’s London O2 Arena shows left?

Fans may still be able to get tickets via the O2 Arena’s official ticket partner AXS and StubHub.
