Review: ‘I had a massage at Lush’s new London Covent Garden spa on its opening day’

Lush are back in Covent Garden with a new shop and spa and I stopped by for a treatment on their opening day.

Lush has finally returned to the famous shopping hub in the heart of London’s West End for good with a new shop and spa.

The beloved bath bomb and soap retailer’s new spot, which is based at 12-14 Long Acre, Covent Garden is the second Lush spa in the capital and officially opened its doors on Friday (August 16).

Offering a total of 12 different spa treatments, I was one of the first to book into the new central facility on its opening day.

Having perused the array of available treatments on the Lush website, the intriguingly named Synesthesia was ultimately the experience I ended up choosing.

Described as a treatment to indulge all five senses, I soon learnt why it has become a bestseller across Lush’s spas.

Set in the basement of the Covent Garden store you’ll soon forget where you are as you are transported from the hustle and bustle of the area’s busy streets to a tranquil setting soundtracked by calm music with birds faintly chirping in the background.

The Synesthesia treatment in particular is tailored to your own wants as you are asked to choose a word from a list to describe your intention for the experience. After you are asked to choose another intention from an array of essential oils.

Nourished was one of the first words that popped out from the initial list and after reading the labels of the essential oil bottles I chose the one named release.

Both intentions inspired an array of Lush products that would be used in the treatment including a rose bath bomb and a shea butter massage bar.

When you got into the treatment room the first the first sense to be treated is smell as the bath bomb was placed in a bowl of water and fizzed calming aromas into the space.

Over the 80 minute full body massage you are also taken on a musical journey from orchestral arrangements and english bird tunes to rainfall.

At the end of the treatment, I was offered a relaxing herbal tea and given a bath bomb to continue the experience in my own tub at home.

Nestled by some of the city’s most famous retailers, Lush’s new spa location offers a convenient spot to relax after a long day of shopping nearby.

The Synesthesia 80 minute full body massage is £160 and can be booked via the Lush app or by contacting Lush Spa Covent Garden on [email protected] or 020 4532 9050.
