Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves, and Idris Elba were among the Hollywood stars spotted in attendance.

Tonight’s premiere is a very different vibe, with Cineworld crew swapping the electric blue carpet for a sand-coloured one.

The red carpet area also features a stunning African backdrop, with the Lion King’s trademark font and sunset.

There is also an array of vegetation bordering the carpet and big screens with familiar characters including Mufasa and Nala on them.

A brief synopsis of the film says: “Lost and alone, orphaned cub Mufasa meets a sympathetic lion named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destinies.”

Mufasa: The Lion King will hit UK cinemas later this month on December 20th.
