Nigel Farage's stint in the I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! jungle has got people talking (although perhaps not as many as he might have hoped).

The series has its usual mix of contestants, from social media stars to TV presenters, but it is Farage's participation, in particular, that received a backlash as soon as it was announced.

The former politician who previously helmed both UKIP and the Brexit Party (now known as Reform UK) stepped back from politics in 2021, and has since pursued a career in broadcasting, regularly hosting shows on GB News.

That politics career might not be entirely over though, judging by a bizarre appearance with Priti Patel at that nightlife hotspot - a Tory party conference disco. Perhaps Matt Hancock can explain how he thinks a jungle retreat might help.

Ahead of the 2023 I'm A Celebrity hitting our screens, the hashtag #BoycottImaCeleb began trending across social media as outraged viewers threatened not to watch the show over Farage's 'performance'.

While his inclusion caused a buzz online, we spoke to some Londoners across the city to see what they thought.

One London local highlighted how his feature could give viewers a chance to get to know him “as a person”. Joe said: "Politicians are seen as like they're not human sometimes and I think it's good to see the human side of him."

Another city resident, Martin, said: "It's not a bad thing it brings a bit of diversity. He's pretty confident, he knows his mind, so it will be good to see what comes of it, really.”

However, Otto compared Farage's appearance to that of former health secretary Hancock last year: "Matt Hancock has set a really dangerous precedent that you know disgraced politicians now have a second career they can go into."
