Battersea Power Station, Southbank and Canary Wharf will all be lit up by magical winter lights displays

London nights are bright once again as as some of its beloved winter light trails have switched on for the new year.

While many of the city’s festive lights were packed up for another year earlier this month the capital will still be lit up thanks to some luminescent art displays around town.

Taking over a few of London’s most famous spots including Battersea Power Station, Southbank, and Canary Wharf the trails will have plenty of glowing art to explore across January’s long evenings.

Here’s when London’s winter light festival trails will open and when they will be available to visit.

1. Battersea Power Station Winter Lights festival

The iconic Battersea Power Station will once again host its winter lights art trail this January. This year’s trail in particular will feature a host of displays including a tornado of light, a piece inspired by the northern lights, as well as a giant ball of yarn.

When: January 23 - February 23

Opening times: 8am - 11pm

2. Canary Wharf Winter Lights festival

Night time in Canary Wharf will also get brighter in the next few weeks as the area's beloved Winter Lights festival display switches on for another year. The 2025 edition will be the ninth year the event has taken over the business district.

When: January 21 - February 1

Opening times: 5pm - 10pm

3. Southbank Winter Lights festival

While Southbank was already lit up for the annual New Year’s London Fireworks, the spot is also set to illuminate across the month with an art trial of its own. Londoners will be able to see the light displays around the Royal Festival Hall and South Bank Centre.

When: January 2 - February 2

Opening times: 10am - 11pm

4. Here We Glow at Westfield London

The famous Shepherd’s Bush shopping centre will be taken over by light displays once again for retail visitors to discover. The spot is London’s longest-running winter lights attraction.

When: January 23 - March 2

Opening times: 10am - 9pm
