Pollen count in London soars as 'pollen bomb' is set to hit UK.

London is set to experience significant levels of pollen over the weekend. The increased count comes as hayfever sufferers across the UK have been warned as a 'pollen bomb' is set to hit.

Londoners are set to encounter high levels of pollen over the weekend and into early next week. Met Office's five-day pollen forecast shows the capital could have increased levels until Tuesday.

The expected rise in pollen levels in the city comes as London prepares to see 30C temperatures at the end of the week. The capital is set to hit a sweltering 29C on Saturday alone.

The Met Office explains that hotter weather could aid high counts of pollen. In particular, temperatures between 18C - 28C paired with low humidity and a gentle breeze could act as the perfect catalyst for producing more pollen.

London's anticipated warm weekend prompted the city to receive a yellow weather alert earlier this week. The UK Health Security Agency and the Met Office issued a heat-health alert for London on Wednesday (June 7).
