London weather: Met Office issues yellow thunderstorm warning for this weekend

The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for London this weekend. Paired with the expected rise in temperatures, Londoners are in for a humid end of the week.

The meteorological service has warned the capital could experience thunderstorm conditions this Saturday (June 10). The caution states London is one of many places that could experience "thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail."

The thunderstorm warning comes after the city was recently named as one of six regions in the UK to have received a yellow alert due to the expected hot weather. The UK Health Security Agency and the Met Office issued a heat-health alert for London on Wednesday (June 7).

London is anticipated to hit a sizzling 28C on Saturday. The city is set to reach its hottest at 1pm, with the afternoon also set to be a scorcher.

The bout of warm weather will ease slightly on Sunday however is set to rise again as the new week kicks off. Monday is set to have a peak of 27C, which is forecast to continue throughout the early week.
