Thousands of Londoners and visitors from further afield will flock to the banks of the River Thames this December 31 as the favoured spot hosts New Year celebrations for another year.

While the event is ticketed, the attraction annually welcomes more than 100,000 ticket holders and gives them a chance to see the new year amidst a bright, firework-filled show. 

For those lucky enough to have bagged a ticket for the NYE bonanza, here's where you'll find the entrances for the viewing areas and what the weather could be like.

Where are the viewing areas for the Mayor of London's New Year's Eve 2023 fireworks?

There will be a total of six different viewing areas for this year's New Year's Eve fireworks display.

Each section is assigned its own colour, with the red viewing section spanning across the north of Victoria Embankment, blue across the south, pink across Waterloo Bridge, green across Belvedere Road, orange on the stretch of bank by St Thomas Hospital and white across Westminster Bridge.

Watchers will no doubt be hoping for clear skies on New Year's Eve so the fireworks can be seen from far and wide. As per the Met Office's long-range forecast for the UK, London could experience mild conditions compared to other places, which are expected to have strong winds and spells of rain as the capital reigns in the new year.

Are there any tickets left for the Mayor of London's New Year's Eve 2023 fireworks?

No, unfortunately, tickets for the 2023 display are now all sold out. However, those who didn't bag a ticket for the event can still catch the display on TV on BBC One or by heading further out to see the fireworks alongside the city's famous skyline.
