I tried to get one of the new Liberty Jellycat bears but backed out when I saw the queue

Liberty London launched an exclusive range of Jellycat bears yesterday and fans were queuing round the block in the heat for them.

Wednesday (April 30) proved to be a big day for Jellycat fans in the capital as a new range of limited edition Liberty Bartholomew Bears launched at Liberty London.

Celebrating the luxury store’s 150th anniversary, four new bears each styled with different Liberty fabrics on their ears and paw pads as well as a matching bow scarf hit the shelves.

Bartholomew Bear is one of Jellycat’s most popular plushies loved for his toffee coloured fur and sweet face.

Hearing the news of their launch, I just had to head down to the store to see the new Liberty London edition of the classic plushie up close.

Although if you’re planning to head down to Liberty don’t make the same mistake as me by going straight inside.

To deal with the anticipated high volume of Jellycat fans, Liberty has put a queueing system in place which runs outside of the store.

Starting at their Kingly Street entrance the queue on Wednesday wrapped around Liberty on to Little Marlborough street behind the venue.

Having come from Oxford Circus I initially walked in through Liberty’s grand main entrance but after discovering there was a queue to enter the Jellycat section soon headed there.

Marking the start of the queue was a sign coloured in Jellycat’s familiar blue shade stating the new range is a world exclusive.

By this time it was around 2pm and unsurprisingly the queue was already very long with some devoted fans starting to line up before Liberty’s opening at 10am.

While much of it was in the shade, on what was one of the hottest days London has had so far this year, with temperatures hitting the high 20s I didn’t fancy joining the line but fully commend those who did brave it.
