Office workers were seen frying pan in hand as they took part in the Shrove Tuesday lunchtime festivities.

Leadenhall Market was jam-packed with people today (February 13) as one of its restaurants, The Lamb Tavern, hosted its annual pancake race.

Drawing in pancake lovers and curious tourists in the area, crowds soon formed around the event's 20m course on the area's famous cobblestones for Shrove Tuesday.

The free-to-enter London race invites teams of four to compete to win its coveted golden frying pan prize. Each team relays against another group, with the quickest team ultimately crowned winners.

This year's event saw around 14 groups have a go at the pancake-themed competition, from corporate workers of the nearby area to tourists visiting the city.

Many of the groups even had pancake references in their names, with a few of our favourites including More Lemon Than Sugar and Flipping Pantastic.

While the competition saw a few pancakes dropped on Leadenhall Market's cobblestone flooring, the race ended with the winning team, Northern Panslappers, taking the golden frying pan.

As Leadenhall Market Pancake race winners, their names are now to be inscribed on the golden frying pan alongside the long line of past victors, which will then go on display at the Lamb Tavern for the rest of the year.
