Is Cross The Tracks 2025 cancelled? Organisers share statement following High Court ruling

Cross The Tracks organisers have shared a statement regarding the 2025 event after a high court ruling put its fate in question.

Following the recent high court ruling which called for Lambeth Council to review its large-scale events at Brockwell Park, Cross The Tracks organisers have confirmed its 2025 event will go ahead this weekend as planned.

On Friday (May 16), campaigning group Protect Brockwell Park won a High Court challenge against Lambeth council over a number of its larger events.

The action highlighted current planning laws that allow the use of parks for events up to 28 days a year, after it was found that Brockwell Park’s planned festivals run over 37 days.

The case specifically focused on the lawfulness of the council's decision to grant permission for the additional days and sided in favour of Protect Brockwell Park.

However the outcome of the High Court ruling does not mean the upcoming Brockwell Park events including Cross The Tracks will be cancelled.

Brockwell Live, the festival series of which Cross The Tracks is a part of, confirmed the day festival would not be cancelled following the ruling.

A statement on its website explains: “Brockwell Live can confirm that all events in the series will go ahead as planned. Friday’s High Court ruling dealt with a particular point of law and whether an administrative process had been carried out correctly.

“We wish to make it clear that no event will be cancelled as a result of the High Court’s decision.”

Cross The Tracks has also issued its own statement affirming that the 2025 event is not cancelled.

The statement shared on Instagram began: “We wish to reassure you that Cross The Tracks will go ahead as planned on Sunday, 25th of May 2025. The High Court's decision does not require us to cancel the event.

“We take our stewardship of Brockwell Park seriously. As we prepare to deliver the festival we remain fully committed to its care, upkeep and long-term wellbeing.

“We're proud of the money we generate each year towards local charities, communities funds, the upkeep of the park, and towards London's biggest free event, the Lambeth Council County show.

“Whether you're an emerging artist taking the stage for the first time or a longtime fan experiencing your favourite song live, we have worked hard to create a space where people can come together and connect.

“We're thankful for the opportunity to do what we love and to bring people together over music. But most of all we’re thankful for you, our Cross The Tracks community, who have shown up in the past five years and brought your energy, passion and love with you.

“With setup nearly complete, we look forward to opening the gates and welcoming out passengers to Cross The Tracks this Sunday for a celebration of Jazz, Funk and Soul with Michael Kiwanuka, Ezra Collective, Jordan Rakei, Free Nationals, Cymande, Nala Sinephro, Sinéad Harnett, Bashy and many more.”
