Brockwell Park live 2025: Will Field Day, City Splash, Cross the Tracks, and Mighty Hoopla be cancelled?

A high court ruling has put the future of a number of Brockwell Park events in question.

Fears Brockwell Park events including Field Day, City Splash, Cross the Tracks and Mighty Hoopla could be cancelled have heightened this week after a high court ruling has called for Lambeth Council to review its large-scale events at the green space.

On Friday (May 16), campaigning group Protect Brockwell Park won a High Court challenge against Lambeth council over a number of its larger events.

The group took action against Lambeth council to challenge its planned use of the land for events.

Highlighting current planning laws that allow the use of parks for events up to 28 days a year, it was found that Brockwell Park’s planned festivals run over 37 days.

Under planning laws it is prohibited to change the use of parks for more than 28 days each year without additional planning consent.

The high court judge ruled in favour of Protect Brockwell Park’s argument and added that the council’s decision to grant the certificate to the festival organisers was “irrational”.

Brockwell Park is set to host a series of festivals this summer with the first, Wide Awake this Friday, May 23.

The greenspace will also welcome Field Day, Cross The Tracks, City Splash and Mighty Hoopla which are due to take place across the final weeks of the month.

Field Day will make its debut as part of Brockwell Park’s festival series, relocating from Victoria Park.

Brockwell Live, the organisers behind the green spaces ’ festivals, has confirmed that all the 2025 events will still go ahead despite the High Court ruling.

A statement on the Brockwell Live website explains: “Brockwell Live can confirm that all events in the series will go ahead as planned. Friday’s High Court ruling dealt with a particular point of law and whether an administrative process had been carried out correctly.

We wish to make it clear that no event will be cancelled as a result of the High Court’s decision. We take our stewardship of Brockwell Park seriously. As we prepare to deliver these much-loved, culturally significant events, we remain fully committed to their care, upkeep, and long-term well-being.

“With setup nearly complete, we look forward to opening the gates and welcoming festival goers later this week.”
