According to a survey by Smarty, a SIM-only mobile network provider, people living in the capital spend £82,731.54, as opposed to £38,819 by their counterparts living in other parts of the UK.
The average Londoner spends just over £23 on an average pub visit. As World Cup fever consumes the capital, expect that total to shoot up. But some thrifty Londoners are finding out how to bag a free pint and watch England’s progress (or lack of it) in Qatar.
However, the number of pints purchased during this year’s World Cup is expected to fall by 30% compared to 2018, according to VoucherCodes’ World Cup 2022 Spending report
The total number of pints sold is expected to reach 65.3 million over the course of this year’s tournament – down 26.7 million compared to 2018.
Ex-England player Ray Parlour has teamed up with VoucherCodes to hand out free pints when England take on Iran at 1pm on Monday 21st November while at work – VoucherCodes On Tap ale-mergency beer delivery unit will hand out free Wolfpack pints.
“Fans love to get behind the Three Lions and enjoy a drink or two while watching the game. But rising costs are taking their toll, and this tournament is going to feel different to the rest, not least with our first game kicking off on a Monday lunchtime whilst many people are at work,” says Parlour.
Those interested in getting their hands on free pints for themselves and their colleagues should email their details and name of their place of work to [email protected] to be in with a chance of being selected. But be quick: entries open Tuesday November 15, 2022 and close Thursday November, 17 2022.
Open to London workplaces only and anyone redeeming an alcoholic drink must provide proof they are 18+.
