There have been 57 penalties awarded in the Premier League so far this season following on from Ivan Toney’s vital spot kick in last night’s London derby between Brentford and Fulham.

With the introduction of VAR, the awarding of penalties has somehow become even more of a contentious subject than it was before but it may come as a surprise to find out which sides have been awarded the most this campaign. Half the teams in the division have a perfect record from 12 yards so far while others have been less prolific and two clubs have actually failed to convert any of their spot kicks. Here is how the penalty records for the 2022/23 Premier League season looks so far:

Fulham are the club who have been awarded the most Premier League penalties with seven for the season so far. However, they have been inconsistent when given the chance from 12 yards and have only scored directly from four of those awards for a success rate of 57.1 percent. Fellow London clubs Brentford and West Ham are joint second with six spot kick awards each with the Hammers scoring four of those for a 66.7 percent record and the Bees having netted six from six, making them the current best penalty takers in England’s top flight.

Tottenham Hotspur have been awarded three penalties this season, scoring two and missing one, while Arsenal and Chelsea have both been awarded and scored two each. Crystal Palace, along with Southampton, have the joint worst penalty record in the division having both been awarded two and missed two so far. Incredibly, two clubs have gone the whole season so far without being awarded a single penalty.
