A flurry of Tottenham Hotspur second half goals took a London derby clash against West Ham away from Julen Lopetegui’s men.

West Ham failed to make it three games unbeaten in the Premier League with the short trip to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon.

Julen Lopetegui would have been eyeing consistency following a win over Ipswich Town and draw against Brentford, however it was a return to the defensive problems that have so far plagued his tenure. The Hammers went in at the break with the score at 1-1 but found themselves 4-1 down by 60 minutes.

Here’s how the West Ham players rated vs Tottenham Hotspur.

GK - Alphonse Areola, 4

It’s hard to concede four goals and score high, even if the majority weren’t the goalkeeper’s fault. A breakdown in communication for the own goal but did make a truly outstanding reaction save when a Pedro Porro shot from distance was deflected dangerously in the box.

LB - Emerson, 5

It looked to be the type of game where the Brazilian could excel in end-to-end action, and he did that in the first half. Faded as the capitulation began.

CB - Max Kilman, 4

That £40 million price tag continues to sit heavy on the centre-back’s shoulders. Never looked like stopping Kulusevski for the third and almost assisted Son for a fifth with a sloppy intervention.

CB - Jean-Clair Todibo, 3

A bad day at the office. Lucky to have the own goal taken off him and looked a class or two below a lively Son.

RB - Aaron Wan-Bissaka, 6

Heavily involved in the good work that West Ham did in the first half. His determination helped lead to the Kudus goal. Some good defensive work and some, well, not so good - nowhere to be seen for the Spurs fourth.

CM - Guido Rodriguez, 5

Started very brightly and the first 45 minutes was his best in a West Ham shirt. However, wasn’t the same player after the break and not convincing in his defensive work or positioning for the first, second or third Spurs goals.

CM - Tomas Soucek, 5

Was praised by Ally McCoist for his off the ball work ahead of the West Ham goal but not at all the dominant midfielder he can be.

CM - Lucas Paqueta, 5

Some nice running and vision early on but became somewhat of a passenger before his sub just after 60 minutes.

LW - Mohammed Kudus, 6

Looked such a danger in the first half in a match with so much space to be exploited. Deserved his goal having whipped a dangerous first time cross seconds earlier. Completely lost his head in the second half and deserved to be sent off. That was far from professional.

ST - Michail Antonio, 5

Up for the battle against Micky van de Ven but a quiet afternoon.

RW - Jarrod Bowen, 6

Always neat with the ball at his feet, which helped him create the West Ham goal. Not his finest defensive performance.

Subs - Carlos Soler (5), Edson Alvarez (6), Crysencio Summerville (5), Konstantinos Mavropanos (6).
