Emerson, 28, is being given the green light to leave his current club for a new chapter in his career.

The Athletic report that David Moyes’ side have ‘agreed’ a £13million deal and personal terms with the player and he is having his medical on Monday.

Shrewd addition for West Ham?

West Ham have been in the hunt for a left-back to compete with Aaron Cresswell. They let Arthur Masuaka leave for Besiktas earlier this month which has left a vacancy to fill.

Emerson fits the bill as he knows the league already and is an experienced full-back having racked up just under 200 appearances in his career to date.

The Brazil-born man started out at Santos before moving over to Europe for a three-year spell at Roma.

Chelsea then swooped to sign him back in January 2018 and he has since played 71 times since moving to Stamford Bridge, helping the Blues win both the Champions League and Europa League during his time there.

He was shipped out on loan to Lyon last term and is now heading out the exit door on a permanent basis, assuming the move to the Hammers gets over the line.

Other news

In other West Ham news, Club Brugge midfielder Hans Vanaken is another potential acquisition and he is on the club’s radar, as per a report by the Daily Mail.
