West Ham are keen on a winter swoop for Arsenal attacker Emile Smith Rowe. The Hammers could move for the Gunners man in the January transfer window.

According to a report by Football Insider, there is ‘significant’ interest in the England international from Premier League clubs this winter. He isn’t guarenteed regular game time at the Emirates Stadium and the door could open for other teams to land him soon.

West Ham could see Smith Rowe, 23, as someone to bolster their options going forward. David Moyes’ side are currently sat in 7th place in the table.

Arteta had this to say about the player’s situation earlier this year: “He knows how much we love him, and we know how much we missed him and how much we need his qualities.

“And now he needs to prove it, he needs to prove how much he wants to win, and how much he’s going to contribute to this team to be better and win.

“And he’s going to have to show that to get in the team. I think we have to manage his load, but for sure he’s in a position where we can throw him in the team at any moment.

“And then it’s about how he’s coping with the team in general and whether we have to take him off or to use him in the last few minutes of the game.”

Smith Rowe has been on the books at Arsenal for his whole career to date and rose up through the academy ranks of the London club. He was a regular at various youth levels and gained experience with loan spells away at RB Leipzig and Huddersfield Town.

The Croydon-born man has scored 18 goals in 102 games for the Gunners to date. However, his long-term future is up in the air.
