West Ham could be tasked with taking on upcoming Premier League opponents Sheffield United, Bournemouth and Manchester United without a key attacking duo following injuries picked up in the FA Cup meeting with Bristol City at the London Stadium on Sunday.

The Hammers only managed a draw against the physical Championship outfit and will have to make a trip to Ashton Gate for a replay next week, but fans may be more concerned with injuries to Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta sustained during the clash. David Moyes fielded a full-strength team against the Robins, showing his intent to progress in the cup competition.

The Hammers' starting XI included the return of mercurial winger Paqueta for his first appearance since picking up a hamstring injury against Arsenal at the end of December. It was a quick recovery from the Brazilian, who limped off after just 33 minutes at the Emirates, having only missed the meeting with Brighton at the London Stadium.

However, it was to be a short return with Paqueta hitting the turf after 14 minutes against Bristol City before hobbling the perimeter of the pitch to be replaced by Divin Mubama. The 26-year-old had lifted a sensational through ball to Jarrod Bowen for the Hammers' goal in those first few minutes.

Speaking after the match, Moyes said: “I’m more disappointed about Lucas Paqueta, we got him back and then he’s out after five or ten minutes. We were all of the understanding that things were fine, he trained yesterday. But obviously something must be annoying him. It’s the same injury.”

West Ham striker Bowen completed the full 90 minutes against Bristol City as the team turns to him to provide goals in the absence of AFCON-bound Mohamed Kudus. However, the England international was seen hobbling off the field in the arms of two members of medical staff after the final whistle.

After the match, Moyes said: “I couldn’t give you any update at all. I’ve not even spoken to the medical team since the end of the game, so I couldn’t give you anything on that.”

West Ham will be relieved of a two-week break before a return to Premier League action against Sheffield United but do have that FA Cup replay with Bristol City to contend with before then. After the Blades comes tricky meetings with in-form Bournemouth and Europe-chasing Manchester United in the space of four days.

Moyes will hope to have Paqueta and Bowen available, having labelled both of the duo as 'special' in recent months, with the two amassing 19 goals between them this season. Hammers fans will now face a nervous wait for updates this week.
