West Ham United have entered the race to sign Viktor Gyökeres from Coventry City following his blistering season in the Championship, but they face hefty competition from three of their Premier League rivals. Fulham, Brentford and Wolves are all in the running as well, as each side looks to bolster their squad ahead of what promises to be another thrilling Premier League season, according to Mail Sport.

It’s no surprise that Gyökeres is commanding a lot of attention from the top flight, seeing as he narrowly missed out on being promoted with Coventry. The Sky Blues made it to the Championship play-off final but were agonisingly snubbed by Luton Town on penalties.

Gyökeres contributed a huge 21 goals and 10 assists for his side last season, finishing as the second-highest goalscorer in the league. Only Middlesbrough’s Chuba Akpom scored more for the season, with a whopping 28. The 25-year-old’s latest tally for the Sky Blues puts him on 123 career goals so far and a move to the Premier League will surely bulk up his chances of adding considerably more next season.

Gyökeres has just one year left on his current contract and multiple clubs are now flocking to try and secure a deal for his services. The Sweden international has been valued at £25 million but Coventry are eager to keep him on their books despite the high volume of interest.

Sporting Lisbon are also said to be interested in Gyökeres and have made an approach, but the four Premier League teams monitoring his situation could be all too tempting for the in-form forward. However, Coventry owner Doug King recently told BBC CWR: “I’m feeling quite calm — and Viktor is still contracted to Coventry City.

“It isn’t up to Viktor Gyökeres to tell the club he’s going somewhere for 50p. That is not how it works and won’t happen in this situation. When a player moves, they have to agree their terms with a different club and the selling club have to agree a compensation package. If both of those don’t work, then nothing will happen.”
