'Here we go!' - West Ham target undergoes 'medical tests' ahead of loan move

The PSG star is set to make Premier League debut shortly after undergoing West Ham medical tests

West Ham are soon to secure their tenth signing of the summer with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler currently undergoing medical tests. The 27-year-old Spanish star has been told he can leave the French giants before today’s deadline and his impending arrival at the London Stadium comes after it was reported that James Ward-Prowse is set to undergo a medical at Nottingham Forest after agreeing a straight loan deal.

The ex-Southampton man has slipped down the Irons’ pecking order since Julen Lopetegui’s arrival and Soler’s soon-to-be confirmed move will only heighten this issue. Reports indicated that Ward-Prowse has already said his goodbyes to the Hammers’ players, leaving he training ground this morning to complete the move.

It has also been reported that winger Maxwel Cornet may leave amid interest from both Crystal Palace and Southampton with the Saints reportedly closing in on agreeing a season-long loan.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano utilised his famous transfer catchphrase to update the Stratford fans ahead of Soler’s imminent entrance. Romano posted: “Confirmed: Carlos Soler to West Ham, here we go! Loan deal with buy option clause agreed with PSG. West Ham will cover the salary as part of the agreement. Soler travelling to London for medical tests. Ward-Prowse leaves West Ham and joins Nottingham Forest.”

27-year-old Soler has been part of the Ligue 1 giants’ set-up since 2022, leaving Valencia with whom he had been with since 2005. After being bought for €18 million (£15m), the midfielder went on to make 50 appearances with PSG, often used as a substitute under compatriot manager Luis Enrique, under whom he played regularly in the Spanish national team.

Now, however, he will join Lopetegui’s much revitalised squad as the Irons look to return to the European competitions ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
