'Ambition' - Lyndon Dykes sends QPR transfer message after £1m Birmingham City move

Lyndon Dykes has explained why he chose to leave QPR and drop down to League One with Birmingham City this week in a short message.
The Scotland international had been linked with an exit from Loftus Road all summer with Rangers, Millwall and Blackburn Rovers all emerging as potential destinations. However, in an impressive coup, it is the League One outfit that snapped up the striker.

Hide AdDykes had been at QPR since joining from Livingston for around £2 million in 2020. The 28-year-old's nine goals in all competitions last season made him the top scorer for the side during the 2023/24 campaign.
The forward was absent from the QPR squad against Plymouth Argyle last weekend and against Luton Town on Tuesday night and was confirmed as a Birmingham City player on Wednesday. Dykes has already scored this season, scoring the equaliser in the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United.
Speaking to the Blues website having completed the transfer, for a reported £1 million, Dykes explained why he left QPR for the Midlands citing direction and ‘ambition’ as an attraction for leaving Loftus Road.
He said: "The club has a clear aim for where they want to go in the future. It is ambitious and that is like myself as a player. I want to get to the top and I am hoping that can be with Birmingham.

Dykes' departure came as a blow for the R's, but he left West London with the well wishes of the Championship outfit.
As QPR confirmed the player's departure, CEO Christian Nourry sent a public message to Dykes, thanking him for his service at the club. Nourry said: “I want to take the opportunity to thank Lyndon for his stellar efforts and immense commitment to the football club over the last four seasons, during which he made some critical contributions.
“Admirably, off the pitch, he threw himself into all aspects of the football club. We have been fortunate to have him in our ranks and wish him all the very best for his new adventure.”
