‘Views weren’t aligned’ - Watford, QPR and Millwall’s Championship rivals sack manager

Hull City have parted company with Shota Arveladze, as announced on their official club website.

Watford, QPR and Millwall’s Championship rivals are now in the hunt for a new manager.

The Tigers have placed former defender Andy Dawson in caretaker charge until a permanent successor is found.

He will take charge of their game against Luton Town at the MKM Stadium this evening.

‘Views weren’t aligned’...

Hull’s owner Acun Ilicali has said:

“During the international break, we had a number of meetings with Shota to discuss the direction of the team and the future of the club. As these meetings went on, it became clear our views weren’t aligned so we have made the decision to part ways.

“Shota and Peter (van der Veen) leave with our thanks, greatest respect and fond wishes for the future.

“Our focus is now supporting Andy and the squad and finding the best possible candidate to drive this club forward.”

Arveladze took charge of the Yorkshire club back in January following Ilicali’s takeover of the club from the Allam family.

He replaced Grant McCann as head coach and ended up keeping the club in the second tier last season.

An eventful summer followed and Hull ended up bringing in 16 new faces, including ex-Millwall midfielder Ryan Woods and former Watford loan man Ozan Tufan.

However, the signings have taken a while to gel together and the team’s form has slumped which has now ultimately ended up with the manager losing his job.

The Tigers are currently 20th in the table and have lost their last four matches on the spin. They also have the worst defensive record in the division.
