Watford defender Mattie Pollock is heading to Aberdeen on loan. The centre-back has been on the radar of a few Football League clubs but is now poised to head up to Scotland instead.

The Daily Mail report that he has agreed to move to Pittodrie on a deal until the end of the season. The Dons currently don’t have a manager after deciding to sack Jim Goodwin after their 6-0 loss to Hibernian this weekend.

Watford will be hoping he can get plenty of game time under his belt to boost his development. He had a stint last term at Cheltenham Town in League One and ended up making 39 appearances for the Robins in all competitions, chipping in with a couple of goals from the back.

Pollock, 21, has reportedly been on the radar of Charlton Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley, Burton Albion, Blackpool, Shrewsbury Town and Exeter City, as per Football Insider. However, they will all have to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.

In other news, Watford boss Slaven Bilic was unhappy with their performance on Saturday as they lost 2-0 to Middlesbrough. He told the club website: “It wasn’t good enough, and I feel angry with our performance. I couldn’t wait for this game to start. We had everything - we’d picked up seven points from our last three games, so we had confidence, we had pace up front and on the flanks, we had the ability to defend and attack – and when we did things correctly we worked our way into good situations.”
