What Frank Lampard has said on former Tottenham star Dele Alli’s ‘advanced’ Everton exit

Former Tottenham star Dele Alli is in Istanbul to complete a season loan move to Besiktas.

Everton boss Frank Lampard has confirmed Dele Alli has left the club just seven months after joining from Tottenham.

The 26-year-old shot to fame in the Premier League for Spurs, but his last two years have been a nightmare and a move to Everton was supposed to reignite his career.

But after just 11 appearances for the Toffees, he is off to Turkey to play with one of the traditional clubs, Besiktas in hope that he will find form and happiness in the football crazy country.

The midfielder arrived in Istanbul in the early hours of Thursday morning and was met by thousands of fans outside the airport who chanted his name and gave him a feel of football in Turkey.

Alli is expected to undergo his medical later this morning before signing a loan deal with an option to buy.

Both the Dele Alli and Frank Lampard joined Everton in the same month and despite things not working as they would have expected manager Frank Lampard confirmed he was off to Turkey.

He told the press on Wednesday night after Everton’s Carabao Cup win against  Fleetwood Town:  “He’s very advanced to moving to Besiktas. It’s not absolutely done yet but it’s very advanced.”

The midfielder has been capped 37 for England and has scored 67 goals for Tottenhma in 269 games for the Lillywhites before he left in January to join Everton after being made surplus to requirement by boss Antonio Conte.
