Croatian star Ivan Perisic says manager Antonio Conte is as demanding in training as he is on the touchline.

The left-wing back worked with Conte during his time at Inter Milan - and immediately jumped at the chance to work with the Italian manager when he heard of the interest from Spurs this summer.

The Italian manager has won four Serie A titles, including three with Juventus and one with Inter Milan where he became the first manager to lead Inter to a league triumph in a decade.

He also spent three glorious seasons at Chelsea where he won the Premier League at the first time of asking and won one of the two FA Cup finals he reached with the Blues.

Perisic who was part of his Inter Milan side which won the Serie A title says his intensity is the same during games and in training.

The left-wing back told Gazzette. It: “Conte is always the same, always on the pitch with his demands.

“He always pushes us a lot and that is very important to both the player and the club at large.”

The Croatian has wasted little time in endearing himself to Tottenham fans, his well crafted corner kick found the head of Harry Kane to essentially deny Chelsea victory at Stamford Bridge during the London derby.

He was back to his best gain over the weekend, when he become the first summer signing to start a league game for Antonio Conte in the game game against Wolves.

With the game tight and Wolves looking to cause damage, it was the Croatian who flicked in a delightful header for Kane to nod home and give his side a 1-0 win.

That is two assists in the first three games of the season.

He admits he is still getting up to speed having seen his pre-season truncated by the injury he picked up at the end of last season with Inter Milan.

He added: “I only started working with the team for just three to four weeks so I will be getting better.

“It was a strange time for me because for the first time in my career I had a serious muscle injury but glad it’s all over now.”

Asked how the feeling is now that he is playing in the Premier League he admitted he couldn’t have chosen a better club as everyone is fighting to play every weekend.

Perisic concluded: “I think we are on the right track, in this group everyone wants to work everyday and this is very important.

“We play practically every three days and everyone has to be ready because everyone will be needed.”
