West Ham and Newcastle to now rival Tottenham for £45m want-away Man City star who Ange Postecoglou likes

Cole Palmer's decision to leave Manchester City and his instant impact at Chelsea has emboldened a few players with the January transfer window just around the corner.

Kalvin Phillips is another who is expected to leave the treble winners with a host of clubs in Europe looking at him.

Juventus have been mentioned but West Ham and Newcastle could also be an option with his agents working overtime to try and find solutions.

Sources say the English midfielder has now made up his mind to leave Manchester City having been sidelined despite a suspension to Rodri and Mateo Kovacic's irregular start to life in Manchester.

He admitted earlier in the season he had to take a decision as his place in the England team increasingly comes under pressure due to lack of playing time at club level.

Philips said: "I know that I need to be playing games and competing every weekend. I'm going to have to make a decision on [my future] over the next months."

Tottenham will be losing two of their starting midfielders Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr for about a month in January due to the AFCON and even though Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur might step up Spurs will look to add competition and cover in that department.

Phillips, made 235 appearances over eight seasons at Elland Road, before moving to Manchester City in the summer of 2022 but has since struggled to break into the Manchester City team.

He's made only four substitute appearances all season in the league and looks set to be on his way out as soon as he gets the opportunity.
