Tottenham will have Swedish midfielder Lucas Bergvall join them from Djurgarden for pre-season.

Ahead of his first meeting with the Tottenham squad this summer, 18-year-old midfielder Lucas Bergvall admits he’s a little nervous as all he’s known is his home town club Djurgarden.

Bergvall will play his last game for the club this weekend before taking a couple of weeks off, after the break he'll link up with Ange Postecoglou’s team for his first pre-season as a Lilywhite player.

Speaking to the Svenskafans' Forum, as reported by Sport Witness, he admitted there were some butterflies in his stomach: "At times it can be difficult to accept that fact. I don’t know if I’ve realised it yet. I’ve just tried to focus on Djurgarden. But now it’s so close, it’s hard not to think about it. I’m incredibly excited and a little nervous, as it should be.”

On his newfound fame because he’s signed for Tottenham, added: "Almost all the time you hear something and many people ask and wonder. You have to disconnect from that to be able to focus on yourself. So, it’s a lot, but at the same time, it’s something I have to get used to now that I’m going to be a footballer.

"I feel like I have good people around me and I’ve realised for myself that thinking I’m better than everyone else isn’t going to make me a better footballer."

Tottenham finished fifth in the league table and will play in the Europa League next season as a reward for their efforts this season even though there was a real buzz when they won 24 points from a possible 27 in the first 10 games of the season.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has since vowed to rebuild the foundations of the club after describing them as fragile after the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.
