Tottenham now have the opportunity to sign a player Thomas Frank is a big fan of. Spurs are still on the lookout for new signings having made a pretty slow start to the summer.

Frank has been handed Mohamed Kudus, but there is a clear need for more talent at the top end of the pitch, especially with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Heung-min Son and Richarlison this summer.
A number of potential options have been mentioned so far this summer, and one player who could be on the move is Brentford star Yoane Wissa, who Frank got the best out of in West London last season. Wissa scored 19 goals for the Bees, and he is said to be pushing for an exit this summer after striker partner Bryan Mbeumo left the club for Manchester United.
A fresh report from Sky Sports on Thursday read: “Yoane Wissa spent just three hours at Brentford's training ground before leaving alone. The striker departed before any of his teammates and it is understood he did not train. Sky Sports News has reported that Wissa is angry and disappointed with the club's approach over his future amid interest from Newcastle.
“Brentford turned down a £25m bid for the striker and do not want to sell after sanctioning the exit of their other star forward Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United for up to £71m. Last season's head coach Thomas Frank and captain Christian Norgaard have also left Brentford this summer. Wissa is hoping Newcastle have not given up on signing him. It is understood Newcastle still want to do a deal but are looking at other options as Brentford insist Wissa is not for sale.”
Elsewhere, Ben Jacobs has posted on X: “Yoane Wissa still pushing to leave Brentford. Wissa has been training alone all week after leaving the team’s pre-season camp in Portugal. Today specifically, he did not train at all and left the training ground early.”
Wissa is set to cost around £40million if Brentford allow him to leave this summer, and while Newcastle United have been linked, there will be eyes on Tottenham given the obvious link with Frank. Speaking about Mbeumo and Wissa last season, Frank said: "All praise due the two of them for the hard work, how much they push, and then of course to my staff, and then I think a little bit to the way we play."
Tottenham do have a need up top, too, with Frank likely wanting to add an alternative option to Dominic Solanke and Wissa would fit the bill, given he is a different type of striker, and one very capable of scoring goals in the Premier League, too. For £40million, Spurs could certainly do a lot worse, with strikers typically costing £50million and up in the current market.
Wissa is a proven commodity, and one Frank already knows how to get the best out of. It will be interesting to see if Spurs make their move.
