Tottenham are willing to keep Ryan Mason on Ange Postecoglou’s coaching team but a growing interest from Swansea City could see him leave the club this summer.

Postecoglou was announced as the new Tottenham boss on Tuesday afternoon after two excellent years in Glasgow, where he helped Celtic win five of the six trophies available in the period he was there.

The Spurs boss wants to want to bring in assistant manager John Kennedy, who was already in position before the appointment of Postecoglou at Celtic with him to north London.

He wants to bring first-team coach Gavin Strachan to come along to north London as well as highly respected video analyst Greg Wallace.

But the Spurs who are still working out the composition of the Greek-Australian’s backroom staff are willing to offer Ryan Mason, who was interim manager, a role in the coaching team according to a report in the Evening Standard.

The former Tottenham midfielder won two and drew one of the six games he was in charge and even though they just missed out on any kind of European football for the first time in 2010, Mason is respected by players and knows the club very well.

He could be the link between the new boss and the club, as Spurs look for a new beginning that will reinstate the club’s values - and give direction to a team that has struggled to find its feet since the sacking of Pochettino in 2019.

Championship side Swansea have lost manager Russell Martin and Mason, who has said he is ready for a permanent role, is one of the few potential managers the Welsh club is looking at.

A move to the Championship, where he could cut his teeth, would be amazing for Mason and could now determine whether he stays at Tottenham next season.
