Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has been forced into a last minute change after forward Dejan Kulusevski picked up a muscle injury and will now have to undergo a scan to determine the extent of damage.

The Lillywhites are taking on Villa in their first game of the year but will have to do without the best Swedish player who has been one of the top performing players since Antonio Conte took over the side just over a year ago.

The former Juventus star had been in training and was in line to start before pulling a muscle injury which forced him out of the game against Villa. Tottenham have key players out already including striker Richarlison who returned from the World Cup with a hamstring. Rodrigo Bentancur hasn’t kicked a ball also since returning from Qatar.

Striker Lucas Moura has always been out for a while and the addition of Kulusevski will certainly feel like a blow to the guts given the timing and the form he’s been in recently.

Bryan Gil is the player to have benefitted from all these injuries, earning his first Premier League start under Antonio and will be tasked with providing the creative force and defensive solidity that Kulusevki normally provides.

Spurs showed mental strength to come from two goals down to draw against Brentford but the fact that they always give teams a chance in games will concern Antonio Conte who saw Manchester United overtake them in the league standings after their win over Wolves.
