The wing-back has forced his way into Antonio Conte’s thinking, and was delivering assists and goals.

His injury momentarily threatened to derail the team’s progress before they found their momentum and ended up picking up the final slot of Champions Leaguefootball ahead of Arsenal.

The knee injury ruled him out for the remainder of last season, but he has been back for pre-season and is looking like a new signing.

His versatility and energy is perfect for the brand of football that is practiced by Antonio Conte and the technical team are delighted with his output so far.

Tottenham’s impressive transfer window

Tottenham have wasted little time in improving the quality of the squad with the addition of Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Djed Spence, Yves Bissouma and Clément Lenglet.

The new additions have raised the competition in the team and Matt Doherty will likely have to be quite consistent if he is to keep his slot through out the season.

There was a time when the full-back was looking at the door, but a change in fortunes has made him one of the trusted men of the manager and a growing fan favourite.

The signings and strong pre-season has lifted the confidence of the squad and has also driven high the expectation of fans going into the season.

Tottenham to take on Jose Mourinho’s Roma

Tottenham are back in North London where they are training ahead of a trip to Israel to take on Jose Mourinho’s Roma side.

The game will be the final one they play before starting the 2022-2023 campaign.
