Ex-Tottenham scout believes Spurs could sign summer 'target' for £25m if Premier League rivals go down
The winger has made 23 Premier League appearances this season, scoring two goals.
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking ahead after what has been a poor season under Ange Postecoglou so far. They sit 13th in the Premier League table, 11 points away from the Champions League places, despite winning three league games in a row over the past month.
Having seen a lot of injury problems this season, Postecoglou will be keen to add more depth to his squad in the summer, especially considering that attackers Mathys Tel and Timo Werner are both due to leave the club after their loan deals expire.
They have been linked to a Premier League winger who looks set to leave his club in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham target Tyler Dibling a “certainty” to leave Southampton
Tottenham have been linked to Southampton winger Tyler Dibling, who has been a bright spark in what has been a dismal season at St Mary’s Stadium. The 19-year-old has made 21 appearances for the Saints this season in the Premier League, scoring twice. His performances have generated significant transfer interest from Tottenham and rivals West Ham.
According to former Spurs scout Mick Brown, Tottenham will be lining up a move for Dibling, who he says is a “certainty” to leave Southampton in the summer.
Brown told Football Insider: “Somebody will come along for Dibling at the end of the season. I can’t see Southampton doing much about that if they’re relegated. They’re going to have to make sales, and he’s the outstanding candidate for that given his value and the level of interest there is in him.
“I think an offer of around £25 million would be enough to get that done. I can see him making the move to Tottenham because they’re aiming to buy that sort of player.
“I imagine Tottenham will be preparing to make an offer for him at the end of the season. And I think it’s a certainty that he will leave Southampton, I can’t see him staying there if there are offers coming in for him.”
Dibling could be a long-term Son replacement
At the age of just 19, Dibling has been tipped to develop into a top class player in the Premier League, having already showcased some level of his ability in a Southampton side who are now battling to avoid the worst points tally in a Premier League season (11).
With Tottenham star Heung-Min Son’s contract due to expire in 2026, Tottenham will have to decide whether or not to extend his deal at the club, but seeing as his form this season has faltered, and he is now 32, it could be a short-term extension.
If Postecoglou was to sign Dibling in the summer transfer window, he could be developed into a replacement for Son due to his versatility, as Dibling can play on either wing, in midfield, or as a striker - something that Son has done during his time at Spurs.
With a £25m transfer fee likely enough to tempt Southampton to sell the midfielder, especially if they are relegated to the Championship, Tottenham could get a young star for a relatively reasonable price this summer.
