Tottenham to have final say on £25m player exit as agent confirms transfer talks

Tottenham could sanction another high-profile exit before the month is over.

Tottenham have already sanctioned one headline exit this month, and they could be about to say goodbye to another first team player. Spurs are having to re-evaluate their squad, and perhaps even how they do things, sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table for the second successive season.

Spurs crashed out of the FA Cup over the weekend, and with a Champions League title very unlikely, it seems as though a season without silverware will ensue.

Tottenham are only five points off the final European spot currently, so it’s not out of the question that they qualify for European football for next season, but they do not currently look capable of going on a sustained run.

Injuries will put more doubt on that possibility, and Spurs need to move quickly to bring in players, given they could fall further behind over the course of the coming weeks. But there could yet be further exits after Brennan Johnson’s departure early in the month.

Dragusin could depart

There is now talk of Mathys Tel wanting out on loan, and the other possible departee is Radu Dragusin. According to his agent, Florin Manea, a move could go ahead this month, though only if Tottenham sanction it.

The agent told TeleRadioStereo: “The decisive days will be between today and tomorrow. I’d like to avoid talking, but we hope to reach a conclusion in the negotiations with Roma.”

Il Tempo report that Roma have submitted a loan offer with the option to buy at the end of the season, while Fiorentina are also said to have a strong interest. Roma are also said to be willing to upgrade their offer to an obligation to buy to get it over the line.

Dragusin is under contract until 2030, and he is, of course, coming off the back of a long-term injury that kept him out for the back-end of last season and the rest of 2025.

Spurs paid just over £25million to sign Dragusin in 2024, but while they will want to make that money back, with the versatile star only 23 years of age, his performances may force a drop in the fee.

The Romanian was poor for Tottenham last season, regularly disappointing at centre-back, and he doesn’t look comfortable enough to play in the defensive midfield role, where can also play. Dragusin is young and may improve, but if Tottenham get a good offer in the form of an obligation to buy, given what they have seen from the player, they may take the money and cut ties.
