Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made major calls over the future of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and England international Eric Dier.

The long-serving duo are yet to make a senior appearance so far this season as Ange Postecoglou’s side have embarked on a ten-game unbeaten run that has taken them to the top of the Premier League table.

Dier has been an unused substitute in five of Spurs’ last six games but is yet to receive any on-field action and Lloris has been absent from matchday squads throughout the campaign as summer signing Guglielmo Vicario has established himself as Postecoglou’s first-choice stopper.

With questions being posed over Lloris and Dier’s future, journalist Neil Lipton has revealed Postecoglou’s has a different stance on each player.

Speaking to Off the Ball, he said: “With Lloris, they said to him you can go with our blessing. You have been brilliant but it’s time to move on. He had a look but he didn’t like any of the offers. He has a year left on his contract, it’s not going to be renewed and he might decide in January that he does need to go and play. I can’t see why he’s staying, whereas Dier has a role to play, even if it’s not on the pitch.”

Chelsea loan star receives backing of former Leicester City man

Chelsea youngster Cesare Casadei has been praised for ‘coming to the fore’ during his loan spell with Championship title contenders Leicester City. The Italy Under-21 midfielder is yet to make a senior start for the Blues after moving to Stamford Bridge from Inter in a reported £10m deal last summer. However, the youngster did receive a taste of first-team football when he spent the second half of last season with Reading.

With senior opportunities likely to be at a premium, Casadei joined Leicester on a season-long deal in August and he has gone on to score one goal and provide one assist in 13 appearances in all competitions for the Foxes.

Former Leicester star Matty James has thrown his support behind Casadei and is impressed with the partnership he has formed alongside fellow midfielder Wilfried Ndidi during the first three months of the season.

Speaking on the BBC’s When You’re Smiling Podcast, he said: “I quite like what I am seeing from Casadei.

“There is a bit of a debate on whether he is that good or not but I like the look of him. Certainly, against Sunderland, I really thought he came to the fore. I think physically he looks like a player; he has got a touch about him and I think in the role that they play Ndidi and Casadei, I think Casadei can play as well as Ndidi and it probably suits him better than Ndidi naturally.”
