Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly drawing up plans to return to the table with a fresh move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
The Lillywhites have conceded an alarming 37 goals from 24 league matches this season and have struggled with the absence of Argentine international Christian Romero and Netherlands international Micky Van de Ven, who only recently returned to full fitness but is facing another setback.

Hide AdSpurs have played large periods of the season with young midfielder Archie Gray playing centre back alongside Romanian Radu Dragusin, who is now expected to miss the remainder of the season with an ACL injury.
The capital side were ultimately able to get one defensive signing over the line in loanee Kevin Danso from Lens in a deal which includes a £21m obligation to buy. The centre-back arrives just days before the crucial semi-final second leg clash with Liverpool and alongside Bayern Munich youngster Mathys Tel will hope to make a big impact in helping the 14th placed side climb the league table.
Tottenham miss out on Marc Guehi transfer
Despite their best efforts, Tottenham were unable to secure the services of Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi despite prolonged efforts to get the deal over the line.
The 24-year-old England international has long been viewed as one of the division’s best defenders and was the subject of rampant interest from fellow London rivals Chelsea before they ultimately opted to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Selhurst Park.

Hide AdTottenham, who also had a failed approach for AC Milan centre back Fikayo Tomori, are thought by Sky Sports to have had a bid in the region of £70m turned down for Guehi on transfer deadline day.
"Deadline Day is usually quite busy here and stories come from out of nowhere,” said Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge. “The story we're getting now, via widespread reports, is that Crystal Palace have rejected a bid worth up to £70m from Spurs for Marc Guehi. That is a major development - major money as well that Palace have turned down. “
Tottenham plot summer move for Marc Guehi
Tottenham are understood to be actively looking for another centre-back addition in the summer window and have set their sights on a fresh move for Marc Guehi. Guehi is under contract at Crystal Palace until 2026 and is yet to sign a new long-term deal with the Eagles despite prolonged negotiations.
Ange Postecogolou is thought to be a huge admirer of Guehi due to his immense speed, composure in possession and his ability to organise a backline and provide the experience and solidity that the team has been lacking for huge chunks of the season. However, Newcastle United, who had as many as four bids turned down for Guehi over the summer, are also expected to re-enter the race to sign the Chelsea academy graduate.

Hide AdNewcastle failed to make a single first team signing in the January window but are expected to spend big in the summer after a subdued 18 months which has been dominated by player sales and balancing the books with PSR.
The Magpies have Dan Burn, Sven Botman and Fabian Schar as their first choice options after the sale of Lloyd Kelly to Juventus and have identified Guehi as the calibre of player which can take the team forward in the years to come. Guehi was the subject of bids of around £70m in both windows, but that figure could drop in the summer if he fails to agree a new long-term contract in South London.
