European heavyweights could offer Chelsea big profit opportunity amid winger search

Chelsea could be offered the chance to make a big profit on one of their defenders this winter.

Chelsea could be offered the chance to offload one of their recent signings in what is becoming a trend at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have a number of summer signings who have struggled for regular football since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Among them is Joao Felix, who is now being linked with a swift exit having struggled to convince Enzo Maresca that he is a starting calibre player. He is not alone, with a number of recent arrivals also being linked with exits, including Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei who, of course, did arrive a year earlier.

Another player who arrived in the summer just gone is centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo, who is another who has struggled to convince Maresca that he can be a starter, having to be content with filling in in the Premier League, finding more regular football in the cup competitions and Europe.

The 27-year-old has made 10 Premier League appearances so far, and only seven of those have been starts. Meanwhile, it is no secret that Maresca wants more options at centre-back, and that’s despite the fact he clearly has bodies there even with Wesley Fofana out, and one more body now that Trevoh Chalobah has been recalled from his loan.

Now, according to TeamTalk, Adarabioyo is being linked with a move away, with AC Milan reportedly interested in a deal. That will give Chelsea fans memories of when Milan snatched away Fikayo Tomori, with the centre-back going on to become a star with the Italian club.

Whether Chelsea would be open to a deal remains to be seen, but having signed the centre-back for free, there may be a conversation to be had if Milan were to submit a significant offer, especially if Maresca does want to sign another player in that position, and indeed out wide, with the Blues searching for a winger.

Adarabioyo recently scored twice for Chelsea during an FA Cup clash with Morecambe, with Maresca saying after the game: "It's a little bit the picture of the game. He was most of the time the only one with space. He was the only one that could carry the ball.

"We are happy for him. He can do that strike a ball that well. The only thing with a central defender, you struggle to see him at the edge of the box,"
